Generally, building plans and application forms are submitted for review by the Township. Upon completion of the Township’s review the applicant will be notified of the fee amount and if any thing else is required. This process normally takes less than 3 weeks.

Permits are required for the following activities or changes to any Property:

• CHANGE IN USE OF ANY PROPERTY.
• BUILDING OF ANY STRUCTURE ON A PROPERTY.
• ANY ELECTRICAL WORK.
• ANY PLUMBING WORK.
• GRADING OR EXCAVATION WITHIN A PROPERTY.
• INSTALLATION OF A DRIVEWAY.
• ANY TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT SIGN.
• SWIMMING POOLS.
• TREE REMOVAL.
• WELL DRILLING.
• ANY UNDERGROUND TANK REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION.
• ANY DEMOLITION OF ANY EXISTING STRUCTURE.
• BUSINESS OCCUPANCY

The list above is not all inclusive. The Code Department must be contacted for confirmation of any permits required. Upper Makefield Township subscribes to the BOCA National Building Codes.
