Residents in un-curbed developments should mark their lawns with four-foot posts (you can also use reflective markers) approximately two feet from the road edge.
Trash cans should not be placed in the roadway.
Do not put driveway snow in roadway.
Do not clear snow from driveways until plow trucks have cleared all the snow from the roadway.
Cars should not be parked on roadway when a snow fall of 4" or more is expected.
Main roads are plowed before development roads.
The Upper Makefield Township Public Works Department is not responsible for mailboxes damaged during snow plowing operations. Mailboxes should be a minimum of one foot from roads edge.
Sprinkler heads should be a minimum of two feet from roads edge.

The Township Public Works Department is responsible for snow and ice removal on the remaining State roads and all Township-dedicated roads.
The Public Works Department has six trucks with which plows and salt spreaders are mounted. The township contracts four (4) additional trucks with a plow and operator. All of the Township owned trucks have two-way/or reverse angling plows which help expedite the plowing process. Three (3) of the township trucks can carry 10 tons of anti-skid/deicing materials while the other three (3) can carry three tons and one and a half tons respectively.
The Department has five full-time employees including the Superintendent as well as two part-time employees to operate the winter maintenance equipment. The full time employees are Bob Johnson, Joe Dicken, John Barron and Bruce Scott. The part-time employees are Bud Baldwin, Andy Cadman, and Jim Bannon.
Accumulation of snow on trees that causes the downing of trees in right away of roads, does not necessarily mean that the Township Public Works Department is responsible for removing them. If the tree is still on the owner's property and does not cross the edge line of the road, then it is the responsibility of the owner to remove the tree. Due to liability, the Township cannot come onto your property to remove the tree.
