Successful 2nd Annual Earth Day Celebration at Brownsburg Park

Many Township residents and families came out to celebrate Earth Day at Brownsburg Park on April 24.

Board of Supervisors Vice Chairman Conrad Baldwin was impressed with the great community turnout, and said, “I’m glad to see that so many people showed up to celebrate today.”

Event highlights included a beautiful AARK Wildlife Center exhibit of a 2-year-old red tail hawk that broke her wing during her childhood. Even though the mighty bird of prey could not fly, it was an event favorite for all ages.

Among many other educational and interactive activities, children enjoyed building blue bird houses in the pavilion and planting seedlings with the help of the Upper Makefield Township Environmental Advisory Council.

Also, there was always a crowd around The Bucks County Soil Conservation District’s Enviroscape — a model that demonstrates the many kinds of erosion and types of pollution that affect our lakes, streams, and groundwater.

While families enjoyed taking a stroll around the recently completed memorial walk around the Brownsburg Pavilion, the Upper Makefield Parks and Recreation Board was busy promoting the Township’s summer recreational parks and activities.
