Upper Makefield Township

Work on Stoopville Road Begins

October 2009

Construction on the $2.8 million Stoopville Road project is under way. This major infrastructure project is a joint effort of Upper Makefield and Newtown townships. With $1.4 million secured in transportation bills by U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, the final federal funding of $1.4 million was secured by through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

For Upper Makefield Township residents, the most valuable Stoopville Road improvements are the traffic calming measures that will make the road safer for vehicles and pedestrians, especially near the Washington Crossing National Cemetery now under construction. These measures will help ensure the 35 mph speed limit on Stoopville Road is maintained in practice.
